World Science Day

The Home Science Department of Shri Ram College organized a special program on the occasion of World Science Day. The program aimed to raise awareness about the importance of a plant-based diet, environmental protection, and animal welfare. The program began with welcome addresses by Dr. Prerna Mittal, Principal of Shri Ram College, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director of Shri Ram College, and Dr. Vineet Kumar Sharma, Dean of Academics, Shri Ram College. Dr. Prerna Mittal, Principal of Shri Ram College, stated that a vegan lifestyle is a necessity in today's times. It not only keeps our bodies healthy but also helps protect the environment from pollution and global warming.

In this competition, the students organized a Healthy Vegan Salad Competition (vkSj) and a Poster Making Competition on Vegan Lifestyle. Students presented a variety of nutritious and attractive salads using soy, tofu, sprouted grains, fruits, vegetables, and seeds. In the poster competition, the students effectively presented the benefits of a vegan lifestyle and the message of compassion for animals through their colors and ideas.

The jury comprised of Dr. Suchitra Tyagi, Head of the Department of Engineering, Shri Ram College, Dr. Aanksha Nirwal, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, Shri Ram College, and Dr. Naeem Ali, Head of the Department of Agriculture, evaluated the students based on creativity, health awareness, and clarity of message. The students were honored with certificates and prizes.

On this occasion, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director of Shri Ram College, Dr. Prerna Mittal, Principal of Shri Ram College, along with all the teachers and students, took the pledge to go vegan for a better future. A vote of thanks was presented at the conclusion of the program, highlighting that such events not only foster healthy eating habits in students but also inspire them to become responsible citizens.
In the category of winners, in the Poster Making Competition on Vegan Lifestyle competition, the first prize was won by Prachi M.Sc. Food and Nutrition, second prize by Kanika B.F.A., third prize by Ayushi and Tania Bioscience.

Bhavya B.Sc. Tourism and Hospitality Management, Janvi Saini B.F.A., Chirag and Anshika Bioscience consolation prizes were given.In the category of winners, in the Healthy Vegan Salad Competition, the first prize was won by Vani Basic Science, second prize by Apoorva Chaudhary B.Sc. Home Science, third prize by Ayush and Abhishek B.Sc. Tourism and Hospitality Management. Sneha, B.Sc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Priyashu and Shivam, B.Sc. Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Naseema, M.Sc. Food and Nutrition, were awarded consolation prizes.

Ruby Poswal, Dr. Shalini Tomar, and Ayesha Gaur, among others, contributed to the complete success of the competition.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director of M College, Dr. Prerna Mittal, Principal of Shri Ram College, along with all the teachers and students, took the pledge of "Love is with us, and we are all part of the people." A vote of thanks was presented at the end of the program, highlighting that such events not only inculcate healthy eating habits in students but also inspire them to become responsible citizens.

In the category of winners, in the "Swejmat Damphad Bvuchmajpvad Tamhand Spmijlasm" competition, the first prize was won by Prachi M.Sc. Food and Nutrition, second prize by Kanika B.F.A., third prize by Ayushi and Tania Bioscience.
