A 25-day training program, Rural Youth Skill Development Program, was launched under the aegis of the Faculty of Agriculture at Shri Ram College and the Department of Agriculture, Government of Uttar Pradesh. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Pramod Sirohi, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Muzaffarnagar; Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director of Shri Ram College; Dr. Prerna Mittal, Principal of Shri Ram College; Dr. Vineet Kumar Sharma, Dean of Academics; and Dr. Mohd. Naeem, Head of the Department of Agricultural Sciences.
On this occasion, Dr. Sirohi explained that this program enhances skills and provides rural youth with valuable technical and soft skills, improving employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Employment opportunities, such as obtaining formal or informal employment locally or abroad, increase the likelihood of reducing rural unemployment. Self-reliance, or empowering youth to start their own enterprises, promotes self-reliance and economic independence. Community development and the contribution of skilled youth can lead to overall community upliftment, improved infrastructure, and a better standard of living. Income generation and acquired skills can directly lead to increased income, helping families and local economies thrive. Social empowerment and fostering confidence, leadership, and decision-making skills among rural youth, fostering active community participation. Bridging the skills gap and bridging the gap between education and industry requirements, aligning skills with market demand. Gender inclusion promotes gender equality by encouraging both young men and women to participate and benefit. Supports long-term rural development through skill building aligned with sustainable development and sustainable practices. Government and NGO support, often including support from government schemes and NGO initiatives, provides additional resources and opportunities.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director of Shri Ram College and Dean of the Department of Agriculture, welcomed the guests, stating that the program aims to empower rural youth by training them in agriculture and agriculture-based enterprises, enabling them to become self-reliant. The training will focus on the following topics: modern agricultural techniques, animal husbandry and dairy management, beekeeping, mushroom production, entrepreneurship development and marketing skills, organic farming, and value addition. Such training will prove to be a milestone in rural development.
On this occasion, Dr. Prerna, Principal of Shri Ram College, expressed her gratitude to the Uttar Pradesh government for organizing the "Rural Youth Skill Development Program" at Shri Ram College.
On this occasion, Dr. Naeem, Head of the Department of Agricultural Science, stated that such programs play a vital role in the overall development of rural youth and the modernization of agriculture. This training program will run from October 27, 2025, to November 24, 2025, and certificates will be awarded to participants at the end.
Vastu expert Sachin Kumar introduced the concept of entrepreneurship to the youth through the program and explained its benefits.
