A one-day career counselling lecture was organised by the BSc Agriculture Department at Shri Ram College Muzaffarnagar for the students who passed the eighth semester of BSc Agriculture. The objective of this programme was to make the students aware of their employment options and to guide them in the right direction.
The programme began with lighting of the lamp by the Principal of Shri Ram College, Dr Prerna Mittal. On this occasion, the welcome song was also sung by the students of Agriculture Science, Priya Singh, Sushma, Chhoti Kumari, Vineeta, Priyadarshini.
On this occasion, as the keynote speaker of the programme, renowned career counsellor Dr Rabish, Assistant Professor, Maa Shakumbhari University, Saharanpur, in the presence of the students, gave detailed information to the students about the career possibilities available in various fields. He said that in today's competitive era, giving correct information about employment options to the students is the need of the hour. Such events are helpful in determining their future.
Describing the immense employment opportunities in the field of agriculture, he said that after this course, students can apply for jobs in Rural Agriculture Extension Officer, District Horticulture Officer, National Agriculture Rural Bank, Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited, National Seed Corporation, Agricultural Forest Officer, Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited, National Fertilizer Limited, Food Safety Officer, Agriculture Development Officer, Agriculture Officer, Senior Technical Officer, Ministry of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, Agriculture Research Service, various state agriculture departments and there are immense employment opportunities in agriculture related jobs in private sector including government services as agricultural advisor, farm manager, agronomist, food technologist, agribusiness manager, marketing executive and sales and marketing roles with agricultural input suppliers or food processing companies.
More than a hundred students participated in the program and described it as extremely useful and inspiring.
On this occasion, the Head of the Department of Agriculture, Dr. Naeem Rajput divided the process of employment selection into three important stages interest, ability and opportunity, and suggested the students to take appropriate decisions through introspection. The program was conducted by Assistant Professor of Agricultural Extension Sachin Kumar Sahu. He advised the students to self-identify using data analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, challenges) so that they can choose the right career path for themselves.
The coordinators of this program, Dr. Praveen Malik, Dr. Ratnakiran Wankhede, motivated the students to work hard and diligently for their future.
On the concluding day of the program, Director of Shri Ram College, Dr. Ashok Kumar called upon all the students to decide the direction of their future with confidence. He also announced that the institute will continue to organize such workshops regularly in the future.
Teachers Dr. Anjali Jakhar, Dr. Riya Jakhawal, Dr. Santosh, Dr. Umra, Dr. Pardeep, Mr. Suraj, Mr. Abid, Mr. Rajkumar also actively participated in the program.
